Letter League

Letter League is a crossword-style word game played within Discord voice channels where up to 8 players take turns placing letter tiles on a shared board to form words. Players earn points by spelling longer words and utilizing special multiplier squares on the board.

Moment-to-moment reward feedback (“Fantastic! +15 points”) was designed to feel satisfying but non-intrusive. Temporary overlays reinforce achievement while keeping the board visible, maintaining game flow during competitive sessions.

The rack and action controls were designed for fluid iteration. Clear “Shuffle,” “Swap,” and “Recall” actions allow players to experiment without friction, while real-time score previews reinforce confidence before committing a play. The goal was to make complex board evaluation feel lightweight and responsive.

This screen focuses on speed and clarity during high-pressure turns. A bold countdown timer anchors the top bar, while the board remains clean and readable beneath it. I prioritized quick scanning of multipliers, tile values, and placement feedback to support fast decision-making in a competitive, synchronous word game.

The results screen celebrates performance while surfacing meaningful stats. Winner recognition, total score hierarchy, “Top Turn,” and “Longest Word” highlights provide closure and replay motivation. I focused on strong visual hierarchy and celebratory motion without overwhelming the player.
