Checkers in the Park
Checkers in the Park is a Discord-native board game activity that allows friends to play the classic game of checkers with unlimited participants watching and two players actively playing, all within a voice channel.

Built a clean, high-contrast board optimized for clarity inside Discord’s interface constraints. Turn state, move validation, and contextual actions (resign/replay) are surfaced without overwhelming the player, maintaining focus on the board. Introduced playful, dynamic status headers to reinforce the social tone of Discord. These micro-moments make asynchronous gameplay feel alive and personal without interrupting usability.

Designed a centralized lobby that allows players to manage multiple asynchronous checkers matches directly within Discord. Each card surfaces board state, opponent, and turn status at a glance, reducing friction and enabling quick re-engagement. Designed filtering and sorting tools to help players quickly find specific matches. The layout balances information density with readability, supporting both casual and power users managing multiple games.

Integrated expressive character art and dynamic turn indicators to add personality and emotional feedback to a traditionally minimal game. This strengthens engagement while clearly signaling whose turn it is.
