Poker Night
The Poker Night Activity is a Texas hold 'em style game we developed here at Discord. You can play with up to 7 players total per game (you + 6 others), and have up to 17 additional spectators max.
Designed a lightweight poker experience built directly into Discord, prioritizing voice integration and social presence. The goal was to make every hand feel like a shared moment—not just a transaction of chips.
Created an intuitive betting interface optimized for quick decision-making within a chat-driven space. Actions like call, raise, and fold are surfaced clearly to reduce friction while maintaining game tension.
Improved readability by automatically highlighting the cards contributing to a player’s strongest hand in real time. This reduces cognitive load, helps newer players understand outcomes, and ensures the board state remains transparent at every stage of play. Introduced dynamic level-up celebrations that reward continued play and reinforce progression. Animated feedback, badge upgrades, and visual flair turn milestones into shareable moments that enhance long-term engagement.
Designed an intuitive betting slider that allows players to adjust wager amounts quickly and confidently. The control supports rapid decision-making with clear visual feedback, reducing friction during high-pressure moments while keeping the pace of the game moving.
